2015
First Line of Code, First Client
Started as a software developer. Wrote the first freelance project - a basic inventory system for a local retail shop in Trichy. The client paid 8,000 rupees. That project taught more about real business software needs than any tutorial ever could.
2018
Senior Developer - Shipping Real Products
Grew into a senior developer role. Led development on multi-module web applications for medium-sized businesses. Learned the difference between building features and solving problems. This was also when the pattern became clear: most Indian SMEs were either over-paying for software that did not fit their workflow, or under-using software they could not understand.
2021
Team Lead - Managing Delivery
Moved into a team lead role. Started managing junior developers, doing code reviews, planning sprints and owning delivery timelines. Learned that good software is 40% code and 60% communication, requirements clarity and understanding what the client actually needs versus what they say they need.
2023
IT Project Manager - End-to-End Ownership
Promoted to IT Project Manager. Took ownership of full project lifecycles - from scoping and estimating to client sign-off. Managed concurrent projects across healthcare, education, manufacturing and NGO sectors. Built confidence that the right approach could work for any industry, any size.
2024
Founded Ruban Softwares - The Leap
After 9 years working inside companies building software for others, took the leap. Founded Ruban Softwares in Trichy. The mission was simple: build software that Indian small and mid-size businesses can actually use - not bloated ERPs that require 3 months of training, not generic tools that need 50 customisations before they fit your workflow. Purpose-built. Affordable. Local support.
2025
First SaaS Products - RubanBill & RubanHR
Launched RubanBill and RubanHR as fully self-serve SaaS products. Started building RubanTools (400+ free tools) and RubanLearn (coding education). Added first enterprise clients from healthcare and construction. Revenue went from zero to covering operational costs.
2026
Expanding - RubanBuild & RubanTea
Launched RubanBuild (construction ERP) and RubanTea (tea industry management). Now serving clients in 4 industries with purpose-built SaaS. The goal is clear: be the #1 custom software development company in India for small and mid-size businesses by 2027.
